IET Faraday Engineering Competition

News

In March, six Year 8 students competed in a very strong regional qualifierof the IET Faraday Engineering Competition hosted at Prebendal School. The students were challenged to plan, design, construct, present and demonstrate an innovative design using circuitry to solve a problem they have observed locally. The students threw themselves into the task, and worked so well together that they gained top marks for teamwork and accounting on the day! Throughout the day they problem-solved and experimented with different ideas, before presenting their working design to the judge. They missed out on the top spot by less than 10 marks, and they all ought to be very proud of themselves.

In addition to the certificate from the challenge, each student has also gained a "Crest discovery award", which is a widely recognised institution working to develop scientific skills and knowledge. We in the Science Department are really excited to continue offering these kinds of opportunities and challenges to all students, especially our Academic Scholars and Go Beyond students, and we can't wait to see what lies in store!
