Inspection Report 2026

Red Great Ballard Shield

A place where every child belongs

Recognised by ISI as a Significant Strength For the warmth, community and deep sense of belonging that defines life at Great Ballard.

“Leaders… have established a strong community… pupils develop a secure sense of belonging. This is a significant strength.

Inspectors found strengths across every area of school life:

Less than 10% of schools nationally are recognised for a Significant Strength

“At Great Ballard, we have always believed that a strong sense of belonging underpins everything a child goes on to achieve. Our students are kind, curious and ambitious, and our staff create an environment where every child feels known and supported. To see this recognised so clearly by ISI is a source of great pride for us all.”
Matt King, Head
Under ISI’s latest framework, Less than 10% of schools nationally are recognised for a Significant Strength, a rare distinction awarded where provision has a profound and lasting impact on pupils. For our families, this simply reflects what they see every day: a school where children feel known, supported and able to thrive in their learning. During their visit, inspectors spent time in lessons and activities, and spoke with pupils, staff and families. We were incredibly proud of the way our community reflected the values at the heart of the school, and are delighted that all standards were met.
“We are delighted that inspectors recognised the strength of relationships across the school and the positive impact this has on pupils’ learning. Our pupils are engaged, thoughtful and keen to achieve, supported by a rich curriculum and teaching that builds strong foundations, encouraging them to think deeply."
Alice Hardwick, Deputy Head (Academic)
