Wellbeing
Fantastic school dinners, match teas, breakfast clubs, after school holding rooms, flexi-boarding and a good range of sports and activites are part of the good life at Great Ballard School.
From the time that our boarding children wake up at school in the morning or the day pupils arrive, their care and well-being is of utmost importance. Staff are available at all times to help children and look after them and this includes all of our staff, not just the matrons and teachers! Our catering and domestic staff, our groundsmen and administration staff are all part of the team at Great Ballard school who are there helping to care for and ensure the safety of each child.

The catering department provides a fantastic service. Starting the day with one of our chef’s breakfasts is a real treat and this is available for boarders and day children by arrangement. Snacks are served at break times and lunches are provided with delicious choices with all staff joining the children in the lunch queue! The personal service given by the catering staff is always remarked upon and often, visiting children are tempted to enjoy food previously never enjoyed! Match teas are also provided on a Wednesday afternoon usually with home made cakes and biscuits. Teas and suppers again are available to boarders and day children when requested.
By providing children with healthy and nutritious food helps them develop and keeps their minds and bodies fit and helps also with their concentration and learning during the day.
As well as healthy food, the exercise and activities that the children enjoy during the day also benefits them physically and mentally. All children spend time outside during lesson times and breaks in the fresh air making the most of the grounds around the school. Activities or sports are scheduled each day for the older children and the younger children have access to secure play areas and woodland climbing areas.
