Opportunities

Great Ballard school offers unique, excellent educational opportunities for all of the pupils, but as well as classroom based lessons, learning is enhanced at every opportunity by children experiencing non curriculum activities, trips away from the school, using our own grounds as much as possible and allowing children the opportunities to help others less fortunate by taking part in charity events.

Activities

Activity sessions take part in a variety of different ways: once a week children have an activity afternoon session for a term and these activities might range from dance, art, card making, kit building, poetry writing, golf, film making. Boaders have further activity opportunities in the evenings which might include making something delicious to eat, taking up a different sport or having some time to practice athletics. Another important activity time is Saturday mornings (dependent on numbers) when, although Saturday school is not compulsory, many pupils choose to come in to take part in drama or dance with many successfully achieving excellent LAMDA results.

Trips

Trips are always popular times with the children and take part throughout the school from short visits by Nursery to local places through to Year 7 children spending time in France and Year 8 children always enjoying a celebration adventure and activity course challenging them personally after finishing their Common Entrance Exams. All year groups go on trips and the form or subject teachers are always looking for locations that enhance the classroom learning. Local attractions such as the Weald and Downland Museum, Chichester Cathedral, art galleries, the local Post Office, music festivals, pantomimes, the recycling depot, a maths challenge or road safety quiz have all been enjoyed recently and have all enhanced the learning experience for the children.

School Grounds

The grounds in which Great Ballard school is located are stunning being set in the Sussex Countryside and allow all pupils opportunities for sports, activities and learning to take place. Children also enjoy the freedom of being able to be outside at playtimes and experience the joy of just being out in the countryside during school time.
