Little Ballard Nursery

We understand the importance of play for young children. It’s how children learn, exploring a range of ideas, feelings and possibilities.

Caring for little minds of varying ages and abilities, we treat each and every one of our nursery children as if they were our own to create a home from home, giving busy parents the reassuring peace of mind that their children are receiving the best care and learning experience possible.

Our aim is to nurture and cherish all children as they take their first steps in learning away from home

Our nursery is very much a part of the whole school, with access to the grounds and exciting facilities including a Forest School, swimming pool, outdoor play, music, cookery, movement, dance and more.

The nursery is spread between two spacious classrooms within the Pre-Prep area of the school.

  • Lower Nursery for the youngest children aged 2½ to 3 years
  • Upper Nursery for children 3 to 4 years of age

Children enjoy using the Pre-Prep playground located in a beautiful walled garden, as well as the neighbouring safety surface area where the children can use a variety of wheeled toys when the weather permits!

Next to the Pre-Prep playground is the garden where the children grow a variety of foods and harvest fruit including apples, pears and raspberries. Children also have access to the hill, woods, wild flower meadow and games field behind the Prep School and particularly enjoy exploring and learning in the Forest School area.

As valued members of the GB family, Nursery children take part in many annual events including the Nativity, Pre-Prep Summer Showcase and Pre-Prep Sports Day. This assists in preparing them for the transition to Reception and helps to build self-confidence and independence at an early stage.
