Health & Wellbeing

From the time that our boarding children wake up at school in the morning or the day pupils arrive, their care and well-being are of utmost importance.

Staff are available at all times to help children and look after them and this includes all of our staff, not just the teachers! Our catering and domestic staff, our groundsmen and administration staff are all part of the team at Great Ballard school who help to care for and ensure the safety of each child.

Healthy school dinners, home-made match teas, breakfast clubs, after school holding rooms, flexi-boarding and a good range of sports and activities are all part of the good life at Great Ballard School.

Starting the day with one of our chef’s breakfasts is a real treat and this is available for boarders and day children by arrangement. Snacks are served at break times and lunches are provided with delicious choices with all staff joining the children in the lunch queue! Match teas are also provided on a Wednesday afternoon usually with home-made cakes and biscuits. Teas and suppers again are available to boarders and day children when requested.

We understand that a healthy diet, supported by a healthy and active lifestyle, helps our pupils to develop and improve their concentration and learning during the day.

All children spend time outside in the fresh air during lesson times and lunch breaks, making the most of the grounds around the school. Activities or sports are scheduled each day for the older children and the younger children have access to secure play areas and woodland climbing areas on a daily basis.
