It was another hot and humid Summer’s day; the packed school hall witnessed another great and varied musical treat. It is worth mentioning that for the third year running nearly every member of the school took part in this concert. There are not many schools that can boast such musical inclusivity.
The choirs all sung with spirit and joy, and it was exciting to hear next year’s Great Ballard Voices already in such good voice. The music continues to become more challenging, stretching the children and making them proud of their achievements. All the choirs are now getting used to part singing which is a good skill to have.
There were many good soloists on show, and perhaps one of the most encouraging aspects of this concert was that only one of them was in Form 8. The others were younger, in some cases much younger! I’m not in the habit of singling out special performances but it would be remiss of me not to mention the exceptional voice of Isabelle O’C. The applause after her rendition of ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ spoke volumes for her talent.
Well done, and thank you, to all the Peripatetic teachers who work behind the scenes; the staff at the school, David, and Mrs Larley for helping continue to make this event a richly-deserved success.
